Oscar fish are some of the most beautiful and strong fish you can keep in a fish tank, but require exclusive care and aquarium conditions to grow. These fish can grow up to fourteen inches long, which makes them a handful for novice aquarium keepers they're definitely not starter fish. #1 - Oscar fish only like other Oscars.
Oscars are schooling fish, and they only like to be with their own kind. They won't really like it when mixed in with various other species, and are known to fight with other fish.
Oscars would enjoy it if they schooled with a few other of their own type in the fish tank. Remember that these fish can develop to be pretty big, so be sure to give at least 30 gallons of swimming space for them. If you maintain your Oscars well, they can live up to fifteen years.
#2 - Oscar can spawn with the best of them.
There are many Oscar types out there, and some of them change colours when they're prepared to mate. If you have a male and also a female Oscar in the same tank, they might spawn thousands of eggs at a time. If you don't want to deal with a fish tank filled with Oscars, then it might be a good idea to put one Oscar in a different place until its color changes back to its initial color.

Aside from a large enough tank, the usual filters, aerators, and lighting, Oscars flourish in clean, clear water with temperatures around 28 degrees Celsius.
